The Criminal Assets Office has seized ten motorcycles, cars and cash following a raid on a property in South Dublin used as a base by a motorcycle gang.
The gang calling itself “The Chosen Few” was part of the escort during the funeral of David Byrne, the Dublin gangster shot to death at the Regency Hotel as part of the ongoing feud between Hutch and Kinahan.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering offenses following garda searches.
The search operation, led by the Office of Criminal Assets, focused on a heavily fortified compound in Crumlin.
In addition to seizing the ten motorcycles, Gardaí took a BMW car, a Ford Ranger jeep and a Volkswagen Scirocco, plus € 4,000 in cash.
The CAB officers were assisted by the Garda Emergency Response Unit, the Air Support Unit, the Armed Support Unit and the Customs Dog Unit.
Gardaí cut sheet metal to access the property
Gardaí said this morning’s operation targeted a criminal group aligned with a number of organized crime groups involved in drug trafficking and organized crime nationwide.
Previous seizures in the investigation included more than 125,000 euros in cash and 7,000 pounds in cash, Gardaí said.
The two men who were arrested, who are father and son, are detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act in independent police stations in Dublin and can be interrogated for up to 24 hours.
