Following today’s tensions, an investigation is underway on the organizers of both groups.

A full Garda operation involving up to 100 Gardai has been underway since Saturday morning before the two large groups met on Molesworth Street, Kildare Street and in the St Stephen’s Green area around 12:30. p.m.

Members of the Garda were forced to intervene several times during the afternoon to keep the two groups apart.

ARREST AND INVESTIGATION

During the course of the day, two men, one in his 30s and the other in his 40s, were arrested for crimes of public order.

Both groups finally dispersed without any serious incident shortly after 3:30 pm.

Although health regulations do not prohibit protests or gatherings, it is a crime to organize such events.

Gardai says that, to the extent possible, it has informed the identified organizers of such events of their responsibilities and possible consequences, and investigations are ongoing.
