Two men were arrested and two vehicles seized after an alleged moody race in Co Limerick.
Gardaí was on the N24 Tipperary road shortly before 8am this morning, where they noticed a group of vehicles involved in what was believed to be a grumpy race.
When Gardaí approached the group, two of them sped away.
Gardaí followed them from a safe distance as they sped through the town of Caherconlish.
The two vehicles were located in Caherconlish shortly after, and two men, both in their 30s, were arrested.
They are currently being detained at the Garda Station on Roxboro Road.
Speaking in Roxboro today, Superintendent Dermot O Connor said the Gardaí in Limerick have been “particularly vigilant” regarding horses that are not being kept under proper control or where they are being neglected or abused.
He added: “Grumpy racing on a public road is illegal and dangerous for all road users and can put horses under tremendous stress.
“Gardaí will investigate all dangerous incidents, illegal grumpy races and where animals are being abused.”
