Around 20 patrons are trapped inside a pub in the UK when armed police shut down the surrounding area.

A staff member at The Lair, in Hull, said customers were told to “get in” and stay away from windows.

It has since closed the shutters and blinds around the main window at the front of the pub, reports Mirror.co.uk.

He said: “Customers went to see what was happening outside the front and the police yelled at them: ‘Come in, come in. Get away from the windows. ‘

“So I closed the main shutters and closed the blinds and pushed everyone away from the windows.”

Roads in the area had been blocked with a large police presence there, locals said.

A witness told HullLive: “A bunch of armed cops showed up and sealed the other apartment block out front near the end of town.
