SUPREME COURT NOMINEE Amy Coney Barrett won’t say whether a president can forgive himself, but she says she agrees that no one is above the law.
When questioned today by Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the election of United States President Donald Trump to the superior court offered no opinion on the clemency issue.
Several investigations are investigating the taxes of Trump, his businesses and his associates.
Barrett did not offer his thoughts on whether Trump could forgive himself.
But he agreed with Leahy’s statement “no one is above the law.”
Barrett is in his third day of hearings and has repeatedly refused to say how he would rule on various issues, including abortion and the Affordable Care Act.
