US President Donald Trump shows “mild symptoms” of Covid-19 after testing positive for the virus, a White House official confirmed.

Both he and First Lady Melania, who also tested positive for coronavirus, are now in quarantine.

“We will get through this together,” Trump said in a tweet announcing the test result. The news was later confirmed in a letter from the president’s doctor.

The White House doctor confirmed that Trump will carry out his duties “without interruptions” during the quarantine that will take place “inside the White House.”

Donald and Melania’s 14-year-old son, Barron Trump, tested negative for coronavirus.

“Barron tested negative and every precaution is being taken to ensure that he remains safe and healthy,” a spokeswoman said.

Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner also tested negative for the virus.

Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen tested negative for the virus, the White House also confirmed.

Foreign Minister Simon Coveney is restricting his movements to “essential jobs only” after his trip to Washington DC this week, which included a meeting at the White House.

A spokesperson said Mr. Coveney and his delegation were screened upon re-entry to Ireland according to the guidelines, and will be screened again in a few days.

The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has been tested for Covid-19 and is awaiting the results. She met with Minister Coveney on Wednesday on Capitol Hill.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden took to Twitter to wish Trump a “speedy recovery.”

Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris tested negative for the virus yesterday, according to a campaign source.

In a move that marks a new uneventful reality for Trump, the administration removed a campaign trip to Florida today from Trump’s agenda.

He was scheduled to hold the event at Sanford Airport, but his new schedule only lists a phone call on “Covid-19 Support to Vulnerable Seniors.”

White House aide Hope Hicks tested positive for the virus and had been very close to Trump in recent days.

Ms. Hicks is the former White House communications director and is one of Donald Trump’s top advisers and closest aides.

He traveled with Trump multiple times this week, including aboard Marine One, the presidential helicopter, to a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday, and on Air Force One to Tuesday night’s first presidential debate in Ohio.

On Twitter, Donald Trump described Hope Hicks’ positive test result as “terrible.”

He said that he and Melania were awaiting the results of their own tests and that in the meantime they would be in quarantine.

Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity that it was difficult for him and his loved ones to avoid the virus, as many others, including members of the military, try to interact with them.

Trump said: “I just went out for a test, I guess he will come back later, and the First Lady also because we spent a lot of time with Hope.”
