Donald Trump has said that “time will tell” who will be the next president of the United States, in his first speech since Joe Biden was declared the winner of the election.

grump had promised an easy re-election pending the results of the lawsuits in various states, but the president gave a restraint while updating the US on Operation Warp Speed; the search for a Covid-19 vaccine.

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden, Trump appeared to acknowledge the possibility of an upcoming Biden administration.

“Ideally, we will not go to a lockdown. I will not go, this administration will not go to a lockdown,” he said.

“Hopefully the, uh, whatever happens in the future, who knows what administration it will be. I guess time will tell.”

This came as the entire count ended since the November 3 election, indicating that Biden earned a 306-232 victory. There will be tallies in Wisconsin and Georgia, but both are unlikely to lean toward Trump due to Joe Biden’s margin of victory.

If the outcome remains the same, Joe Biden will have beaten Donald Trump by the same 74-vote victory he won over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

A relatively silent Trump claimed that the advancement of the Pfizer vaccine would not be possible without the financial support of his administration and suggested that no other U.S. government would have facilitated such an outcome.

While Pfizer had stated that its progress in achieving 90% effectiveness with a vaccine did not fall under the ‘Warp Speed’ umbrella, President Trump insisted it was, calling Pfizer’s statement “misinformed.”

Trump said he expects a coronavirus vaccine to be available to the entire American population beginning in April. This comes as daily cases hit record highs in the US.

Trump also said he expects an emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine “very soon.”

Pfizer has said it expects to report the required safety data next week and can then apply for an emergency use authorization.

With additional reports from Reuters.
