Donald Trump has said there will be an “orderly transition” after the US Congress certified Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.
It comes just hours after deadly protests broke out in Washington DC, and after Congress formally validated Biden’s November victory, certifying his 306 Electoral College votes.
“Although I totally disagree with the outcome of the elections and the facts confirm me, however, there will be an orderly transition on January 20,” said the steadfast president.
“I have always said that we would continue our fight to make sure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the best first term in presidential history, it is just the beginning of our fight to make America again! big!”

The statement was posted on Twitter by the president’s deputy chief of staff, Dan Scavino, after the president was blocked from his social media accounts.
Twitter and Facebook also removed several posts by the president that made false claims about the election result and praised his supporters for the march on Washington DC to protest his defeat.
It ended with dramatic scenes that saw the assault on the Capitol building by protesters to interrupt the formal confirmation by Congress of Biden’s victory in November and the deaths of four people.

The riots were preceded by a rally in which Trump told thousands of supporters, including members of far-right groups: “All of us here today do not want emboldened radical Democrats to steal our election victory.
“We will never give up. We will never give in. It will never happen. You don’t give in when there is a robbery involved. Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore.”
He said the election result was a “heinous assault on our democracy” and that they should “walk to the Capitol.”
