Donald Trump fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper and replaced him with anti-terrorism chief Christopher Miller.
Esper was confirmed as Secretary of Defense in July 2019, but had clashed with the president this year.
Miller, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, takes office until Joe Biden enters the White House in the new year.

Trump thanked Esper for his service and said Miller will do “a great job.”
