PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP has tried to stay focused on Democrat Joe Biden’s comments in the final presidential debate on supporting an oil “transition” in favor of renewables.

At a campaign rally in Pensacola, Florida, Trump reveled in Biden’s comments, saying voters in Texas, Pennsylvania and other states would not like them.

He told his followers: “Even you don’t like it. Do you know why you don’t like it? Because you like gasoline at $ 2 (€ 1.69) and less per gallon. “

Biden’s campaign issued a statement hours after Thursday’s debate declaring that the Democratic nominee would phase out taxpayer subsidies for fossil fuel companies, not the industry entirely.

Trump also played for his followers a video of various comments Biden has made about fracking in an attempt to make it look like he’s opposed.

Biden’s position is that he does not support the new fracking on federal lands. Most of the fracking occurs on private land.

The president spoke at length about the debate Thursday night at his rallies in Florida.

He said Biden “looked like he pulled it off. It seemed that everything was going to be fine. He got off the stage, went back to his basement and then they hit him with the energy question. They hit him with a thing called oil. “
