Tributes have been pouring in to a talented young musician who tragically lost her life in a Co Wexford car accident.
Eona Reville, who was in her early 20s, has been described by those who knew her as a “fantastic person”, “extremely talented” and “one of the nicest people you will ever meet.”
He was killed in a two-car collision on New Line Road, near the town of Wexford, shortly before 6 a.m. Friday. The driver of the other car, a woman in her 60s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The Bannow-Ballymitty community has been devastated by his untimely death.
Leona, who worked as a special needs aide, was actively involved in her local parish through sports and music. He was a member of the Danescastle Music Group, where he played the flute and tin whistle and regularly competed in national competitions.
Her friends remember her as a talented singer and musician, and many have shared videos of her past performances on social media.

Declan Cosgrove, who conducts music sessions at The Forge in Ballymitty, where Leona performed regularly as a singer and guitarist, said she was a “beautiful person inside and out.”
“She regularly wowed The Forge audience with her incredible voice and her ability to connect with everyone in the room,” she told Independent.ie.
“I was often surprised by how modest and unpretentious she was, considering how talented she was. When he sang a ballad, you could hear a pin drop. Then his infectious smile would break out as he launched into a heartbreaking rendition of Amy Winehouse. Valerie.
“It is shocking that such a beautiful young soul was taken from us so soon. We appreciate the memories and joy that Leona brought to our community. “
Ms. Reville was also a member of the Kilmore Athletics Club and her fellow athletes said she was a “joyous character” and a “joy to be around.”
Paddy Morgan, president of Kilmore AC, said she won medals for the high jump while competing at Leinster as a young athlete and recently rejoined the club.
“He was one of the nicest people you would ever meet,” he said.
“She was absolutely fantastic. Well educated, very upright and honest. She was an excellent woman. There is nothing bad you can say about her. It was a great shock to get the call. It was only after running again ”.
Ms. Reville had been working as an SNA at Murrintown National School and studied at the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT). Murrintown principal John Colloton said she was a “very dear colleague.”
“The entire school community is devastated by his passing. His youthful, positive, caring and friendly manner was clearly evident at school. All the children and staff greatly appreciated his dedication to the school, especially in the senior infant class. where you worked.
“Every day he did everything he could for everyone at our school.”
Danescastle Music Group’s Áine Kennedy said he traveled across the country to perform with his fellow musicians. The Reville family is synonymous with traditional music in the Bannow area.
“Leona was very eager to share her wonderful talents with our younger musicians and singers in our weekly music classes,” said Ms. Kennedy.
“Audiences at our six-one summer show were captivated by Leona’s incredible voice as she entertained herself with a wide variety of songs, from ballads like ‘Will Ye Go Lassie Go’ to hits like ‘Make You Feel My Love.’ There is a great void in Danescastle Music Group after the death of our dear friend Leona ”.
Friends have also been paying touching tributes to the young musician on Facebook.
“Beautiful Leona Reville, absolutely shocking and devastating news. May he rest in peace, ”said a friend.
“She was a very talented singer and musician. We will miss her deeply and in small rural communities where everyone knows each other and in close-knit clubs like ours, it really hits us hard, ”said another friend.
“A beautiful young voice and presence have left our community,” wrote another local.
It is the second tragedy to hit the Reville family this year after their grandmother Kathleen passed away in February.
The family is very popular and respected and the Bannow-Ballymitty community is joining them.
Gardaí is calling for witnesses to the collision or road users who may have camera footage to come forward. They are asking that anyone who has traveled through the area between 5.30am and 6am to get in touch.
