Tributes were paid to a 26-year-old man from Doneraile in North Cork who passed away under unexplained circumstances in Killarney on Saturday night.

Darragh Sheehan, who graduated from IT Tralee where he studied Mechanical Engineering, was found unconscious outside the Gleneagle Hotel on Muckross Road around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Since then, an autopsy has been performed at Kerry University Hospital. Results will not be released for operational reasons. A forensic examination was also carried out at the scene.

Gardai says the “criminal investigation” is ongoing until death.

In a statement, Doneraile GAA said it was with “extreme sadness” that they reported the death of Darragh Sheehan of Horseclose in the city to club members.

“Darragh played at all levels in the youth and adult club with success at the youth level. He was a great team player and he always played the game with great pride and gave 100%.

He was a player who always wore the club’s jersey with pride.

Everyone at Doneraile GAA will miss him very much. “
