TRIBUTES have arrived after the death of young Galway man Luke Nolan in Melbourne, Australia this week.
Nolan, from Leagaun, Moycullen, Co. Galway, passed away peacefully at Melbourne Hospital after cardiac arrest on Monday, May 11.
He was described as an “amazing brother” with a smile that could “light up a room”.
A fund has been established to help repatriate Luke to his Galway home due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Luke was an entrepreneur who created his own business, Legume, which served vegan food to the people of Galway.
His family said personal messages in the condolences section of Luke’s online death announcement “would be invaluable” as they mourn his loss.
RIP.ie said: “Luke Nolan of Leagaun, Moycullen, Co. Galway, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in the city of Melbourne, Australia.
‘BELOVED SON’
“He was the beloved son of Liz and Joe, incredible brother of his twin Marcus, his sister Jessica and his older brothers Oliver and Michael.
“He will be indescribably missed by his heartbroken family, his girlfriend Becky, his countless loving friends and all those whose lives he touched at home and abroad.”
“Luke will be buried in Ireland in the coming weeks, unfortunately at a private funeral due to Covid-19 restrictions.
However, his life will be celebrated in all its glory at a later date. “
AID FUND
The crowdfunding page has already raised over € 94,720 to help the family and any extra money will be donated to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
One post read: “This fund is to help Luke, his brother Oliver and their friends get to Australia from Ireland.
“It is currently a very difficult time to repatriate Luke to his home in Galway due to Covid-19 restrictions, and it is very difficult and costly for Oliver, his girlfriend and his friends to return home.”
“The funds raised will go directly to efforts to bring Luke and his loved ones home.
“All funds raised for what is required will be donated to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, which is providing invaluable support to the Nolan family at this difficult time.”
Galway Handsome Burger’s business also paid tribute to his friend Luke and said they would always remember the “amazing memories” he created with people.
They said: “As a show of respect for one of our best friends, Luke Nolan, who tragically passed away yesterday, it will take us a few days to recover and we will begin taking orders again next Monday.
“Luke was a very close friend for years and was a member of the Handsome Burger family before establishing his own Legume business, which serves amazing vegan food to the people of Galway.
“Although he was too young to go, Luke will always be remembered for the way his smile would light up a room and the incredible memories he created with so many people in Galway and beyond.
“RIP BROTHER and sleep well.”
