The tributes have now come to Jeni, who attended the Armagh Royal School and was a member of the Combined Cadet Force.

Pal Piper Hebditch, 18, said: “I was shocked and heartbroken, she is so outgoing and I don’t think she would have voluntarily taken drugs.”

Piper and Jeni met at an Army Cadets Round Britain sailing challenge in August 2018 and became immediate friends.

She said: “When we first arrived it was a little awkward for the others to meet each other, but Jeni was super happy and amazing, she instantly came over, said hi and got to know everyone.

“I loved how open and confident she was, she was a huge inspiration to many of us, but especially to me. I was so excited even when we were up at 4am in 2 ° C weather in the middle of the Irish Sea .

“The look of awe on her face when we saw the dolphin seals could warm even the coldest hearts. She was absolutely amazing and we will truly miss her all.

“I have talked to their mother that they are heartbroken but they are managing, they have so many kind words that I guess they help.

“I’m gutted that someone could be kidnapped so soon and in such a cruel and unfair way. Let her fly high with the angels.”

Royal Navy veteran Nick Cohen, 42, also met Jeni on the Cadets’ trip in 2018 and paid tribute to the “beautiful” girl.

He said: “She was a beautiful girl inside and out. She was charming, always smiling and could melt any frown and bring out the best in everyone.

“She was hardworking, smart and an absolute pleasure to be around and she was so excited to go to college.

“I have been in contact with his family and obviously they are struggling. Today they will go down to identify his body and clean his room at the university.”

“Jeni’s brother has been very supportive. He is there with his mother and his father is going today.

“What a waste. He had a bright future and he made everyone smile, it’s really sad.”

DRUG WARNING

Armagh Royal School, where Jeni was assistant principal, also paid tribute to the “model student”

Principal Graham Montgomery said: “She was part of the successful Combined Cadet Force ‘thousand skills’ team and worked closely with younger cadets to encourage them to develop their skills.

“Her ability to encourage others and show leadership was evident when she was cast in the important role of student leader at Gordonstoun International Summer School in the summer of 2019.

“She was a highly valued member of the Chamber Choir and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She combined that beautiful voice and a brilliant sense of comic timing when she masterfully performed the role of Madame de la Grande Bouche in the school production of Walt Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

“In October 2019, Jeni was part of the school’s signature charity project, the ASHA team that spent 10 days in New Delhi’s Trilok Puri slum. This trip required significant commitment and was the culmination of a year of fundraising activity by Jeni and the other team members. “

Mr. Montgomery said Jeni was an “energetic and independent girl” who helped launch a green initiative on the school board.

He added: “We have no doubt that given her academic ability and personality, Jeni had a bright future ahead of her and we are saddened that she was interrupted so suddenly.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his many friends, family, brother and parents at this tragic time and assure them of our prayers and practical support.”

A police spokesman said that specialized agents are supporting the families of those involved.

Although the causes of the deaths have not been confirmed, officers said they wanted to warn the public about the danger of using drugs.

“The consequences could cost you your life.

“We will continue to work with both universities and increase our patrols in the areas where these tragedies have occurred.”
