Ulster SFC
Preliminary round
Monaghan v Cavan, Clones, Saturday, 1:15 PM
Quarter finals
Donegal v Tyrone, Ballybofey, Sunday, 1.30pm (live on RTÉ2)
Derry v Armagh, Celtic Park, Sunday, 4 pm
Cavan was very disappointed to go down to Division 3 last week. The results and a crazy Division 2 were against him.
The history of their league was to create opportunities but not seize them, reducing losses to Kildare and Roscommon (since the restart).
It’s hard to ask Mickey Graham to pick them up this weekend. Monaghan had a strong draw against Meath last Sunday and it was much sharper than it had been against Kerry.
Yes Monaghanorth Get better by conceding 1-17 to Meath, then you can’t help but watch them pass here.
Going to Derry is very difficult for Armagh. All eyes are on them to progress without any real pressure on Derry.
Armagh still seems naive at times. They can be in full control of a game and lose it.
They have incredible talent, the O’Neills, (Rory) Grugan, (Stefan) Campbell, Jarlath Óg (Burns), but Derry has been impressive this year.
I saw them against Cork and the only problem they have is that if you are direct and cool, they fight.
Yes Armagh They are ready for a 75 minute battle, they will win it.
Donegal vs. Tyrone is the match I’ve been waiting for all season. It’s scary because one of these teams will leave after the weekend.
They met two weeks ago, and based on that alone, Donegal was better, better on the counterattack and put more pressure on Tyrone to force mistakes, not by much, but enough.
However, Tyrone went ahead against Mayo and was very impressive.
(Peter) Harte, (Mattie) Donnelly, (Conor) McKenna, (Darragh) Canavan gave you something extra and you’re thinking ‘Wow, if these guys go out like this against Donegal, it’ll be great.’
It’s the toughest game to call out of the weekend, but I think Donegal might have too much for Tyrone. We could have penalties but I will go hesitant for Donegal.

Munster SFC Quarter Finals
Waterford v Limerick, Dungarvan, Saturday, 7 pm
Tipperary v Clare, Semple Stadium, Sunday, 1pm
Limerick won their league tie by a slim margin, but after being promoted I will go with Limerick against Waterford.
Tipperary vs. Clare is Division 3 vs. Division 2 and it’s a chance for one of these teams to reach a Munster final.
I think it will be very close, but yes Clare can hold the Tipperary forwards, I think they will win.
Connacht SFC Quarterfinals
Leitrim v Mayo, Avantcard Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada (Sunday 1:15 pm, live RTÉ News)
You can only see the winner between Leitrim and May (live on RTE News, Sunday 1:15 pm).
Leitrim has had preparations hampered with Covid and despite being demoted to Division 2 I believe Mayonnaise they are chaping on the bit.
I think they have a good competition and will pass here.
Leinster SFC round 1 (all Sunday, 1.30 pm)
Louth v Longford, TEG Cusack Park
Offaly v Carlow, O’Connor Park
Wexford vs. Wicklow, Chadwicks Wexford Park
In February, Longford beat Louth by three points. Louth beat a weekend Down team last weekend, but Cork surprised them (the week before).
It is difficult to call. Longford wouldn’t play Cork last weekend so he added pressure on them, I’m going to go with Louth – single.
Wexford and Wicklow played a cracker last weekend in tough conditions; a great victory for Wicklow.
However, I think there is more to learn from Wexford here, and if you work a little harder I might see Wexford skirt it.
Carlow, unfortunately, did not play last week because they were supposed to play in London.
They finished behind Limerick, Wicklow, Antrim and Wexford in the league.
I have been silently impressed by John Maughan, the way he can organize a team. They narrowly lost to Derry and I’m going for Offaly.
