Tipperary’s senior footballers will once again wear their usual blue and gold jersey for the Irish semi-final against Mayo on Sunday of the week.
David Power’s board of directors and management team confirmed the decision not to continue wearing the 1920 Grangemockler commemorative jersey tonight.
His statement read: “The Tipperary Co. board and SF management can confirm that our footballers will once again wear the traditional blue and gold jersey against Mayo on Sunday week.
“The Munster final jersey was a one-of-a-kind replica for a specific memorial day that will endure in Tipp GAA’s memory.”
Tipperary veteran Brian Fox said he had no preference as to which shirt to wear: “Look, the reality is I grew up wearing blue and gold for Tipperary, so if we wear that shirt it’s a huge honor at the semifinal.
“If we wear the commemoration jerseys, it’s a part of history what we did with those jerseys too, so I would definitely have no problem wearing that jersey, if I’m honest.
“As long as I represent Tipperary I don’t care, I just want to represent us to the best of my ability.”
