The County Tipperary Board has confirmed that veteran footballers will once again wear their traditional blue and gold jerseys for Ireland’s semi-final against Mayo.
Tipp ended an 85-year wait for Munster Championship glory on Sunday by beating Cork in the provincial decider.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, Premier County wore special commemorative shirts in white and green, a replica of the colors of the jersey worn by the Tipperary team that played in Dublin at Croke Park in 1920.
But Tipperary GAA has announced that they will return to blue and gold for the clash against Mayo on December 6 and that the wearing of the commemorative jersey was unique.
In a tweet, they said: “The Tipperary Co. board and SF management can confirm that our footballers will once again wear the traditional blue and gold jersey against Mayo on Sunday week. The Munster final jersey was a replica. unique for a specific memorial day that will endure in Tipp GAA’s memory. “
