Tim Sherwood has opened up to the advice he received from Sir Alex Ferguson after taking over Tottenham.
The Premier League title winner replaced Andre Villas-Boas at the helm in 2013, but gave way to Mauricio Pochettino five months later despite an impressive season in charge.
Sherwood has recalled a conversation he had with Manchester United legend Fergie after he launched.
The 51-year-old man told the Daily Mail: “I spoke to him. He told me: ‘You play two games a week as a coach: one is the press conference and the other is a soccer game. Sometimes it is just as important win the conference since it’s the game. ‘
“He was right. But I didn’t understand that.”

“I always made sure he had the right attitude, otherwise I wouldn’t have had him there with the boys anyway. I brought him back and we made more than we lost.”
