Thousands of people took part in a demonstration against masks in Dublin this afternoon.

The protest was organized by a group called Yellow Vest Ireland.

The rally started at Custom House Quay around 2 pm, before moving to Golden Lane in the south center of the city.

Gardaí previously warned of traffic delays in and around Dublin city center as a result of this afternoon’s meeting.

Meanwhile, the HSE has rejected comments from a senior doctor who claimed that Covid-19 was not as harmful as the flu.

Talking with him Irish timesDr. Martin Feeley, clinical director of the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group, said that Covid-19 is “much less severe” than the average annual flu.

He called the current coronavirus restrictions “draconian” and said they could no longer be justified.

Dr. Feeley stated that people at low risk for the virus should be exposed to it in an attempt to develop herd immunity.

In response to Dr. Feeley’s assertions, Dr. Colm Henry, HSE Clinical Director, said this afternoon: “For the avoidance of any doubt, the position stated by Dr. Feeley in the Irish Times today is not the position of HSE. on this important issue. “

“This is a new coronavirus for which there is currently no cure or vaccine and against which our population has no immunity.

“The most effective way to protect older people and vulnerable groups is not to expect them to protect themselves, but for everyone to adhere to public health advice that will limit the transmission of the virus between individuals and households.
