Beyond opening them to dust from time to time, I don’t think many of us stop to look inside our favorite consoles. That’s why this custom Nintendo GameCube case, created entirely from clear acrylic, is so special. It gives us a glimpse of good things without fear of damaging something important.
“We built a custom clear acrylic Nintendo GameCube!” Bithead1000 said in the video description below (or look here if it’s not shown), but doesn’t add anything else, which means we have to guess the reasons why such an idea occurred to them in the first place. Personally, I am stumped.
Anyway! The 17-minute video shows the entire journey, from carefully removing the technical bits from a GameCube, who knew there were so many screws, huh? – to export GameCube electronics to your bright and clear new home (thanks, ResetEra, via Nintendo Enthusiast).
In case you were wondering: yes, it really pays to go all the way, especially since Bithead makes a very complex technical process seem incredibly easy. They also close the video with shots of the custom console in the dark, with colored LEDs showing off its glorious insides.
While we’re on the subject of consoles, we now have the raw specs for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, we recently compared the two to answer the question everyone wants to know: which one, For real, is it more powerful?
As Ewan summed up at the time, both consoles are incredibly powerful, of course, and “are leaps and bounds ahead of their predecessors.” “We should have some fantastic experiences, never seen before in both … and so we should be excited regardless of which console we plan to choose,” he wrote.
Claiming that “it is almost boring how similar these consoles are on a technical level,” Ewan acknowledges that while the Xbox Series X is the superior console on paper, in addition to firmly adopting backward compatibility, something Sony has yet to do. “The console you choose is the right call as long as you have fun with it.” What is tempting you right now?
