McEnany confirmed his positive result in a statement on Twitter this afternoon.
He said he had previously tested negative every day since last Thursday when US President Donald Trump tested positive for the disease.
He said he tested positive this morning “without experiencing symptoms.”
“No reporter, producer, or member of the press is listed as close contacts of the White House Medical Unit,” McEnany said.
“Also, he was definitely unaware of Hope Hicks’ diagnosis prior to holding a press conference at the White House on Thursday.”
He said he will now begin the “quarantine process” and work remotely “on behalf of the American people.”
