The Government will receive details today from the High Level Working Group on Covid-19 Vaccination on how to implement Covid-19 vaccines.
A logistics plan will detail how various vaccines will be stored and transported.
However, the task force report is unlikely to be released until next week, after the Cabinet considers it on Tuesday.
The Government believes that communication with health professionals and the public will be key to implementing the vaccination program.
The task force, chaired by Professor Brian MacCraith, has been considering the deployment and administration of Covid vaccines.
The large-scale logistics operation will start early next year once the European Medicines Agency has approved the vaccines.
GPs and pharmacists are likely to be involved in immunizations, but mass vaccination clinics may also be necessary.
Nine ultra-low temperature freezer trucks have arrived in the country to assist in the deployment.
The vaccines will be free to all and the task force is likely to recommend how records will be kept.
The government is also working on a communications plan to address people’s concerns and combat misinformation.
Details of vaccine sequencing have already been published with priority for those over 65 in long-term care, followed by first-line healthcare workers and other groups.
Doctors, nurses and pharmacists will administer the Covid-19 vaccines according to the proposals being prepared by the Government.
