The notable Princess Zoe, who started the season with 64 points, sealed a Group 1 win on the first attempt at a stamina-sapping Qatari Prix du Cadran.
Running over two and a half miles on heavy terrain, the nine-runner field stretched down the straight at Longchamp, but Princess Zoe, trained by Tony Mullins, bravely found the pressure to lead close to home.
40-1 Shot Alkuin shot clear down the straight, but apprentice Joey Sheridan persisted in brave Princess Zoe, who completed a fairytale hit.
Princess Zoe finished second at Navan in her first outing of the year and stable debut and has since won five races in a row, including two wins at the Galway festival.
Mullins said: “She just keeps getting better and I think there is more to come.
“He’s so easy to train and I wouldn’t worry about going back a mile and a half. He’s versatile, but he doesn’t want good or firm ground. If he tells us he can, we’ll come back for the Prix Royal Oak.”
Menuisier celebrates the second Group 1
Coach David Menuisier celebrated a second high-level success when Wonderful Tonight resolutely stuck around to win the Qatar Prix de Royallieu.
The Christopher Wright-owned filly took the lead on the straight under Tony Piccone and enjoyed the test conditions to deny the Joseph O’Brien-trained track.
Menuisier, who considered supplementing Wonderful Tonight for the Arc after this week’s heavy rain, celebrated a first win in Group 1 last year when Danceteria took on Bayerisches Zuchtrennen.

Wonderful Tonight was halved in price to 8-1 with Betfair Sportsbook for the British champions Fillies and Mares Stakes at Ascot on October 17.
Menuisier, watching from home, said: “I’m excited. She’s tough as nails, never gives up and always tries her best.
“We won our first Group 1 in Germany last year and it was fantastic, but to win a Group 1 at Longchamp at Arc weekend is just exceptional. I’m over the moon.”
Dettori gives his verdict on the Longchamp ground
Frankie Dettori described the soil at Longchamp as heavy after taking part in the opening race of the Arc weekend.
A part of racing history potentially awaits Enable as he attempts to achieve a third success at the Arc on Sunday, with Dettori doing five races on Saturday at the Paris track.
He finished fourth aboard the Ralph Beckett-trained Max Vega in the Qatar Prix Chaudenay, won by Alain De Royer-Dupre-trained Valia, with Dettori no doubt about the terrain testing nature, officially described as heavy.
Gregory Benoist, who finished third in Step By Step, said: “It is soft but with an hour of rain it will be strong.”
Dettori’s second mount, Patrick Sarsfield, trained by Joseph O’Brien, finished second to peer favorite Skalleti in the Qatar Prix Dollar.
Skalleti, who defeated Arc hope Sottsass in his previous outing, was reduced to 14-1 (of 33) by Paddy Power for the Qipco Champion Stakes after his success.
Another winner who could be in action on Champions Day is The Revenant after the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained five-year-old scored on his Qatar Prix comeback Daniel Wildstein.
Jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot said: “He was very impressive and the QEII Stakes will be his next goal in two weeks. He will improve today.”
Longchamp isn’t the only track in test condition Saturday with Fontwell’s card decimated by 33 non-riders after the race smoothed out, heavy in places (since good Thursday).
Ascot’s match, featuring two Group 3 competitions and the Challenge Cup, was canceled on Saturday morning with around 40mm of rain falling on the Berkshire track since Friday.
