Mounting pressure on Chelsea manager Frank Lampard to deliver results came to a head at halftime in their 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Boxing Day, according to reports.
The Blues could not recover from that defeat with Anwar El Ghazi’s goal that nullified Olivier Giroud’s header against Chelsea. held a 1-1 draw on Monday night.

OPINION: The table does not lie, Chelsea is not better than Villa
Giroud brought Chelsea ahead 1-0 at halftime, and the French forward happily scored his ninth Blues goal of the campaign in all competitions.
But Lampard’s men could not get back on the winning track after their 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Boxing Day, to stay with just one win in their last five league games.
AND Athletic says the ‘pressure is starting to show’ with Lampard reacting badly during the match at Emirates Stadium.
A ‘source’ said Athletic that Lampard “lost” it at halftime in the loss to Arsenal, which was probably justified given his poor performance in the first half.
The report adds that “another informant commented on how certain people were reprimanded in front of the group for their performance in the first 45 minutes.”
Following their draw against Aston Villa last night, Lampard was confident that Chelsea would go through a “difficult period”.
Lampard said: “This is our difficult period right now, and we have to fight for it and we will be stronger for it.
“The performance was good, I thought we deserved to win the game, but we don’t and we continue to go through a difficult streak.
“The attitude of the team was good, without having the last bit of quality in the last third.
“After a very good race, we had a difficult time, but tonight I saw some really good signs that I liked.”
