Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has demanded that television stations change their match schedule in an interview that Sky Sports did not broadcast.

Klopp saw his injury-stricken side swift past Leicester to move to second place in the table, but the German manager was left ranting about the demanding schedule of matches at Anfield on Sunday.

Goals from Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and an own goal eased the champion to three points without players like Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomoez, Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.

Leicester also had key players lost through injury, but Klopp said his men were “on fire.”

However, the 53-year-old was furious at the full-time whistle and said he will “go crazy” if someone mentions broadcast contracts to him again.

In an interview that was not shown in the UK, Klopp said Sky sports: “It was never about us when I talked about it, it was about all the players. If you don’t start talking to BT [Sport] we are all done.

“Sky and BT have to talk because if we continue playing on Wednesday and Saturday [at] 12:30, I’m not sure if we will finish the season with 11 players.

“I know you [the broadcasters] I don’t care and that’s the problem We have discussed it for a long time and nothing has happened.

“I’m not talking about Liverpool, I’m talking about all the soccer players out there. Yesterday, [Gerard] Piqué, massive knee injury. Today, [Bukayo] Saka, maybe, I’m not sure, a knee injury: he played all three games for England during the international break.

“Now people tell us that we rotate players, but who? We have some offensive players, but the rest are children ”.

Liverpool now have a Champions League match against Atalanta at Anfield on Wednesday night before early Saturday’s start (12:30 pm) at Brighton & Hove Albion next Saturday.

Klopp’s threat

It has left Klopp threatening to send the points to Brighton.

Klopp added: “It’s a huge problem. On Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12:30 it is a problem for the station and nothing more.

“We played Atalanta on Wednesday and then at 12:30 [Saturday] against Brighton.

“It’s an early Christmas gift. We will arrive there trembling. I think about submitting the points. This is how it is. “

Sky’s interviewer, Geoff Shreeves, later highlighted the contracts that the clubs agreed with the broadcasters, but Klopp was dismissive.

“Gentlemen, start talking and making decisions. I like the relationship with you, ”Klopp added.

“If someone talks to me about contracts again, I will go crazy. Because these contracts are not made for a Covid season.

“We all have to adapt. Everything has changed, but the contracts with the broadcasters are still: ‘We have this, so we keep it.’ What? Everything changed, the whole world changed! “
