The Army Disposal Unit was called in after a suspicious device was discovered in North Dublin this afternoon.
The device was found on Malahide Road in Donnycarney shortly after 1pm.
Gardai rushed to the scene and sealed off the area before calling in explosives experts, Dublin Live reports.
Traffic was reportedly busy in the area while brave heroes dealt with the incident.
A Garda spokesman said the device was later found to be unworkable.
He said: “Gardai received reports of a suspicious device on Malahide Road, Dublin 9 at approximately 1:15 pm today.
“The EOD unit was called in and the device was found to be non-viable.”
