Tesco Ireland is recalling a batch of its ’16 spicy chorizo slices’ due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The FSAI issued the advisory today and is urging customers to take note of the following information.

The package size is 80g and the recall notices at the point of sale will be displayed in all Tesco stores.

The batch code indicates that the expiration date is December 19, 2020, and consumers are also advised not to eat the batch involved.

Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and a stiff neck.

In rare cases, the infection can be more serious and cause serious complications.

Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, infants, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly. The incubation period (time between the initial infection and the appearance of the first symptoms) is on average 3 weeks, but can range from 3 to 70 days.
