A teenager who died after being hit by a truck in Cork City will be laid to rest after a ceremony on Friday.

The Requiem Mass for Jimmy Horgan, 13, of Blackrock will be held at the local SMA church at noon.

The mass will be broadcast live so that your many friends and neighbors can remember a beloved son, brother and classmate in their own special way.

Jimmy is survived by his parents Ernest and Rachel and his siblings Rosie, Tilly, Lola and Rex.

Jimmy had just finished school at Presentation Brothers College when he was hit by a truck on Sheares Street around 3:30 pm on Tuesday.

The truck driver was not injured in the incident. However, he was seriously shocked and treated on the spot for shock.

Gardaí and paramedics rushed to the crash site. However, despite attempts to help the teenager, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at Mercy University Hospital (MUH).
