Teen killed in Cork city center road collision

A TEENAGER has been killed in a traffic collision involving a truck and a pedestrian in Cork City this afternoon.

The boy was a pedestrian. The collision occurred on Sheare’s Street around 3:30 pm and he was rushed to Mercy University Hospital.

However, he was pronounced dead shortly after.

“The truck driver was unharmed,” said a Garda spokesman. “Currently, the road is closed with local detours.

“The scene is being preserved for a full forensic and technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.”

He added: “Gardaí is asking for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí is also appealing to any road user who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and who were traveling in the area between 3:15. pm and 3:45 pm to make these images available to Gardaí. “
