AN ANNOUNCEMENT for the supermarket chain SuperValu is sweeping social media thanks to an emotional twist on the 2020 theme.
SuperValu released the ad yesterday, starring a young man named Conor who is preparing for Christmas amidst Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
“Will he still come this year?” Conor asks his mother, to which she replies “of course I do.
The scenes that follow show the boy who appears to be writing a letter to Santa Claus and even puts up a sign that says “please stop here” outside his house and sets up a plate of mince pies with a glass of milk.
However, hearing movement downstairs one night, Conor rushes down the stairs to be greeted by his grandfather.
“Grandfather! I knew you would come, “says Conor, followed by the motto” SuperValu: We Believe. “
The announcement reflects the desire for families to be together for Christmas in a year of uncertainty during the coronavirus pandemic, and has received a warm welcome online.
“I don’t think even John Lewis will get over this,” one Twitter usage tweeted.
