The weekend is expected to be a mixture of sun and rain with highs of 17 to 18 degrees.
Met Éireann has forecast scattered showers across the country for Saturday, which will be more frequent at night. The best of the sunny periods will be in the southeast of the country, with maximum temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees.
Sunday seems like a better day with spells of sunshine and highs of 15-18 degrees. The forecast is best for the morning and some showers will appear in the west during the afternoon.
The weather is looking bad again for next week as Monday and Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain.
It will pick up slightly on Wednesday and Thursday before more rainy weather is forecast for the weekend.
Met Éireann said: “Wednesday will be a cooler and brighter day with good periods of sunshine and scattered showers, mainly in the west. Highest temperatures of 14-18 degrees with moderate breezes from west to northwest. Current indications suggest that while much of Thursday will be mainly dry, but the rain will spread from the west on Thursday night and continue for a while on Friday with rain for the next weekend. “
Shannon Airport in Co Clare, Sherkin Island in Co Cork and the Valentia Observatory in Co Kerry all saw twice the normal amount of rain for August.
The worst day saw 52mm on Monday August 24th during Storm Francis. Another named storm, Storm Ellen, also contributes to August’s bad weather.
