Storm Bella has arrived in Ireland and is tracking the entire country this afternoon with multiple warnings already in place.

The entire country is under yellow rain and wind alerts that will last until 4am on Sunday morning.

All of Northern Ireland is also under an expected status yellow warning for Down, which is the only county on the island that is not at the warning level today.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said: “Generally cloudy today with persistent and heavy rains extending southeast over the country, spreading, with very strong and gusty winds from west to southwest, with gales in the western coastal areas.

“However, it stays dry in the southeast until the early hours of the night. Higher temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

“Widespread rains with heavy drops that carry the risk of point flooding, will gradually clear south this evening followed by scattered showers. It will get much colder with the clearing of the rain, so some showers will turn winter.

“Very strong and gusty winds from west to southwest will persist early into the night, with gales in the western coastal areas, but winds will decrease overnight. Lower temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees, with frost and ice formation in places more protected “.
