Status Yellow Snow and Ice Warning for Cork with temperatures set to sink tonight

A yellow snow and ice status advisory has been issued for Cork with temperatures scheduled to drop to -2 in the coming days.

Cork is one of 12 counties affected by the warning, issued today at 11 a.m. M. It comes into effect from midnight tonight and runs until noon tomorrow (Wednesday).

The other counties affected by the Ireland freeze are Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford.

Widespread frost and ice are forecast and there is also the possibility of medium to heavy snowfall with forecasters warning of “accumulations to lower levels”.

This will mean dangerous conditions on our roads from late night to early tomorrow with the risk of more ice, frost, and snow in the coming days as we move into an unusually settled period, with little or no cloud cover until the Weekend.

This will mean plenty of sunshine and almost uninterrupted clear skies throughout the New Years period through Sunday.

However, although it will be great weather to get out of the house, but only if you are very warmly bundled, the driving conditions will be dangerous as temperatures drop well below freezing overnight and struggle to reach 4 to 5 highs during the day.

We will have regular updates on the weather and road conditions here at CorkBeo and on our social media platforms.
