Met Éireann issued a yellow state weather warning on Monday, warning of ‘heavy rain’ tomorrow night.
The Status Yellow Rainfall warning is also in effect for Wexford, Wicklow, Galway, Mayo, Kerry, and Waterford.
The warning will go into effect from 9pm this Tuesday night until noon Wednesday, and Met Eireann indicates that we can expect up to 40mm of rain.
“Heavy and sometimes heavy rains are expected totaling 25 to 40mm. This can result in localized flooding. The rain will clear the western counties early Wednesday morning.”
Until then, it looks like it’s going to be a drier start to the week for us Leesiders anyway, so bask in the sun while you can!
It has been a fairly dry September for Cork, with three spells of drought in Ireland this month, all in County Rebel.
Rainfall amounts so far this month have been well below normal in the south of the country, with much of Munster and southern Leinster recording less than half of their average rainfall totals for the time of the year.
The dry spells reported at Roches Point, Cork Airport and Moore Park this month are the third dry spell this year for all three seasons.
