Stabbing in Leopardstown causes a woman to be hospitalized and a man arrested

A woman was rushed to hospital today after a stabbing in South Dublin.

The incident occurred this afternoon and the woman is believed to have suffered several stab wounds.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene of the incident, which took place in Levmoss Park, Leopardstown, a stone’s throw from a local elementary school.

The woman, in her 30s, suffered non-fatal injuries as a result of the attack, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. today.

Gardai quickly closed the scene and conducted investigations at houses in the area.

Garda officers with the technical office also conducted a forensic examination of the surroundings as part of their investigation today.

A Garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: “Gardai in Stepaside was called into an alleged assault incident this afternoon.”

They added that the victim was taken to St Vincent Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

“A man (40 years old) was arrested at the scene and taken to Dundrum GS, where he is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.”
