SPIN 1038 Fully Loaded x Matt Damon
Fully Charged’s Graham and Nathan finally tracked down Matt Damon this week.
The movie star has been in quarantine in Dalkey since the pandemic began and decided to give SPIN 1038 his only interview.
How did Graham and Nathan do it? Pure determination, charm and a little help from Bono!
Matt Damon moved to Dublin in March with his wife and three younger daughters.
He originally came to shoot a new movie. The last duel however, production was soon stopped due to COVID-19.
Rather than return home, Matt decided to quarantine Dalkey, and the world media has been trying to interview him ever since.
Enjoying his quiet life in South Dublin, the movie star rejected all advances so far …
Nathan O’Reilly, half of the fully loaded breakfast duo has been campaigning tirelessly for Matt to come to the show for weeks.
The presenter contacted listeners for clues on how the Hollywood star could be contacted, with no luck.
He was even kicked out of a Facebook group of Dalkey residents after sharing his appeal with the locals.
Just as he was about to give up, Graham and Nathan received a phone call from Matt’s people and it turned out that Matt had been listening to Fully Charged the entire time.
Why hadn’t he gotten closer earlier? I couldn’t remember the SPIN 1038 phone number!
“I have to call that show. It’s been too long.”
Once Graham and Nathan calmed down, they weren’t kidding, the interview was arranged and, a few days later, they were on a Zoom call with global megastar Matt Damon!
Matt told the presenters that he heard their calls and even tried to communicate, but his wife cut him off when he was trying to memorize the station number.
“Every time I’ve been in the car, I’ve been hearing the number and it never appears again,” he said.
His wife, Luciana Barroso, advised him to search for SPIN 1038 online.
“She says, ‘You’re just as stupid as if you were looking for her number, you don’t have to wait for them to say it,'” Matt revealed.
And Luciana wasn’t the only person who pressured Matt to call SPIN 1038, Bono got involved too!
Matt told Graham and Nathan that he ran into the U2 leader last week, who told him about the Fully Charged appeal.
“He said to me last week, ‘You know there is a radio station that is looking for you.'”
“I thought, ‘I really have to track down those guys, I have to call that show. It’s been too long.'”
Nice Bonus!
Isolation in Ireland
Matt and his family have coped well with life in Ireland and Dalkey residents are delighted to have a celebrity among them.
Nathan told Matt that he had become “an absolute hero” in Dalkey.
“I don’t know if you are aware that the Dalkey people are protecting you as a glorious gem,” Nathan continued.
She then told Matt that he was quickly kicked out of a group of Dalkey residents on Facebook for trying to contact his newcomer.
“I know! I laughed so hard when I heard this story,” said the actor.
“It was then that I realized how great this place was and how protective everyone is here.”
“This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been.”
“Even in the running of the bulls, it’s like you have to be less than 2 kilometers from your home,” Matt continued.
“I mean 2 kilometers from here there are trees, forests, forests and oceans, I can’t think of any other place where you would prefer to be within a radius of 2 kilometers.”
SuperValu Bag
Matt and his family have certainly been making the most of their beautiful surroundings.
Last month he was seen, in true Irish style, going to the beach with a SuperValu bag.

Graham and Nathan asked Matt what the bag contained, joking that it could possibly be a large bag of cans!
But just like any other Irish parent in good weather, it was full of beach towels!
Matt’s daughter had COVID-19
Matt moved to Dalkey in March with his wife and three younger children.
However, her oldest daughter Alexia remained in New York, where she was attending college.
Matt confirmed that Alexia and her roommates contracted the virus early and, fortunately, “they got over it well.”
“We have the three youngest and the oldest, we will meet her at the end of the month … But they are all fine.”
Matt went on to say that he believes the message of social estrangement has finally reached the world.
He started: “I think we have all received the message now, everyone is doing isolation and social distancing and hand washing, all we can to mitigate this.”
“We’ll go back to LA and she (Alexia) will go out, so we’ll all be together and find out what the hell we’re going to do. It’s such a strange limbo we’re all in.”
“You have a president who just goes to the hospital and starts working.”
During the interview, Matt praised our Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, for all his work in Ireland in the midst of the pandemic.
He said, “You have a president who just goes to the hospital and starts working.”
“I mean, how rude, he’s on another level.”

the Ford v Ferrari Star admitted that he is “a little worried about going home.”
“We don’t have adequate evidence, so there will be another wave that seems to be at home,” he said.
“There are all these areas in the United States that really hadn’t penetrated and now, you know …”
Matt surprises a super fan at Zoom
Graham, Nathan and the Full Charged listeners have been searching for Matt Damon ever since rumors began that he was hiding out in South Dublin.
And once they located him, the boys decided to surprise one of those helpful listeners: Matt Damon, super fan and nurse Anaise.
Graham and Nathan asked Matt to hide his screen from Zoom’s call as they invited Anaise to a video chat.
However, he was soon stunned by his all-time favorite actor!
Matt greeted Anaise, “Nice to meet you”, and she replied that she couldn’t breathe!
Thank you very much for what you are doing Anaise. I can’t even tell you. “
Matt then thanked Anaise for all the amazing work she is doing as a front-line worker.
“Thank you so much for what you are doing, Anaise,” he said. “I can’t even tell you.”
“This has been so horrible for everyone, but if there is any glimmer of hope it is that, hopefully, people will finally understand how amazing front-line workers are.”
What a gentleman!
