OVER 269 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland, the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) said tonight.
In a statement, it said that six other people who were confirmed to have Covid-19 had died.
The total number of people with Covid-19 who have died in Ireland is now 2,033, and the total number of confirmed cases is 71,187.
Of the cases reported today;
- 123 are men / 146 are women
- 64% are under 45
- The average age is 35 years.
- 88 in Dublin, 42 in Cork, 25 in Limerick, 20 in Louth, 16 in Donegal, and the remaining 78 are spread over 17 other counties.
At 2:00 p.m. today, 260 patients with Covid-19 are in the hospital, of which 36 are in the ICU. There have been 23 additional hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.
The global incidence rate of 14 days per 100,000 population in Ireland at this time is 105.5.
An NPHET meeting is still taking place tonight to discuss the latest Covid-19 data and make a recommendation to the government on the possible reduction of Level 5 restrictions.
Overall, the Level 5 restrictions, which have been in effect since October 22, are expected to be lifted on December 1 and the country to enter Level 3, with some modifications, next Wednesday.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar today confirmed some details of this planned easing of restrictions. An official government announcement is expected on Friday after all the details are finalized.
