Shannon Group president Rose Hynes will step down from the state-owned company’s board after six years in office.
Board member Kathryn O’Leary Higgins, who chaired its health, safety and environment committee, also left Friday as her term came to an end.
Ms. Hynes originally joined the Shannon Airport Authority board in 2003, when she was still part of the state-owned Aer Rianta company, now called DAA.
She was named founding president of Shannon Airport, and later of the Shannon Group, when it was established in 2014, after it parted ways with DAA.
The group said Friday that Ms Hynes oversaw a strategy for Shannon Airport that, in its first year, ended a half-decade of decline that preceded the separation.
Years of growth
Shannon Group added that the airport grew in six of the next seven years.
Ms. Hynes oversaw the establishment of the Shannon Group, which merged the airport, a real estate business and tourist attractions, including Bunratty Castle, into one operation.
Mary Considine, CEO of the Shannon Group, said: “Rose Hynes has rendered an immense service to this region through her commitment to the Shannon Group.”
Ms. Considine also paid tribute to Ms. O’Leary Higgins, a US-based public policy consultant and transportation expert, for her work for Shannon.
