The SSE Airtricity League postponed Premier Division leader Shamrock Rovers’ next three matches after Aaron Greene and Republic of Ireland international Jack Byrne tested positive for Covid-19.
The Hoops had revealed that “several other players within the team will follow a period of isolation as close contacts” with their teammates.
Byrne tested positive while on international duty and isolates himself in Dublin.
He did not travel to Finland for the Nations League game after testing positive on Sunday.
Shamrock Rovers were scheduled to host Derry City on Friday night and Dublin rivals St Patrick’s Athletic a week later, with a trip to Finn Harps on Monday that now also has to be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, the Bohemians have confirmed that two first-team players are isolating themselves after a positive Covid-19 result, but have not requested that Friday’s match be rescheduled to Dundalk and say they “are happy that the match goes according to plan. ”
An anonymous player from the first team tested positive for Gypsies and another, considered a close contact, also isolates himself as a result.
The player who tested positive last trained with the team on October 6, was tested on October 10 and received his result on Monday.
He will remain in isolation and following all public health guidelines until he is allowed to resume training on Tuesday, October 20.
The close contact returned a negative test for Covid-19 and will also resume training on that date.
