Up to seven Garda cars invaded an area of west Dublin last night when two men were arrested in an intelligence-led operation.
The couple were questioned in connection with a car theft in the Navan area on Sunday night.
Gardai confirmed to Dublin Live that the driver of the vehicle tested positive for cocaine, while one of the duo was also armed with a knife at the time.
Following reports of the stolen car in Meath, Blanchardstown officers saw the allegedly stolen vehicle and detained it in a garage in the Mulhuddart area just before midnight Sunday.
A witness told Dublin Live: “About six or seven cars from the garda searched the car in the garage.
“He was detained well into midnight and it seemed that Gardai had made a great discovery.”
A Garda spokesperson told Dublin Live: “The two occupants of the vehicle were searched and one of the men was found to be in possession of a knife.
“The driver of the vehicle was tested and tested positive for cocaine.
