He also said, “I lost my marriage and my son.”

The 47-year-old man was charged with seizing a firearm after the murder of his son Sean Little last year was caged today in Special Criminal Court without a jury.

JUDGMENT IN COURT

Little of Kilbarron Avenue, Kilmore, Dublin 5, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a Grand Power G9 semi-automatic pistol in Lein Park, Harmonstown, Dublin 5, on September 14, 2019.

Little’s son Sean Little, 22, was found shot to death next to a burning car near Balbriggan, along the M1 in Dublin on May 21, 2019.

The non-jury court previously heard that if Little had not made these comments, the case against him would have been weaker and charges may not have been brought against him.

Co-defendant Edward McDonnell, 56, of Waterside Apartments, New Ross, Co Wexford, was sentenced today to nine years for illegal possession of the semi-automatic weapon on the same date and place.

The two men, who were in custody before today’s hearing, exchanged a punch before sentencing.

Both men had originally been charged with having the weapon with the intention of endangering life.

The Irish Sun previously revealed that Little was rushed to Beaumont Hospital after suffering a panic attack when officers pounced.

VISIT TO THE HOSPITAL

He later received the go-ahead before being officially charged.

Cocaine dealer Sean was the second of five to die as part of the Coolock dispute in North Dublin.

The 22-year-old was found shot to death next to a burning car near Balbriggan, along the M1 in Dublin, on May 21.

The target of the botched hit is believed to be a young man who was close friends with Sean Little and Finglas’ mobster, Mr. Flashy.

This man’s aim highlighted the complexity of the brutal fight at Coolock, where the young men, who grew up together and were all friends at one stage, split into various factions in ranks for money and territory.

A source said: “The dispute is incredibly complex. But it basically started as a fight for control of the drug trade that comes down to money.

“Like all fights, it gets personal.”

The two were incarcerated for possession of a firearm under suspicious circumstances, a crime under Section 27A (1) of the Firearms Act.

The court heard during the sentencing hearing that Gardaí recovered a loaded handgun from under the passenger seat of an Audi car the day before McDonnell was forcibly removed from the vehicle.

Little had brought McDonnell to the scene.
