Ryanair asks schoolchildren to rank Green List in scathing mock ad

Ryanair has posted a mock ad on its website to recruit a junior certified student to help the government decide on its controversial Green List for international travel.

The airline has been a visceral critic of the government’s decision to heavily restrict international travel due to Covid-19 and has repeatedly called for the rules to be relaxed.

“The Irish Government has exclusively engaged us in their search for a Transition Year / Inter Certified student who will have sole responsibility for compiling Ireland’s Green List on a weekly basis,” says Ryanair.

The airline has started running an ad saying that the person will decide on the Green List based on games like bingo, lottery, tail the donkey, scrabble, darts and charades.

The ad, which is currently on the website of Europe’s largest airline, says that it is looking to recruit for the position titled “Junior Certified / Transition Year Student – Irish Government Green List”.

“Compile Ireland’s green list based on the following games: Bingo, The Lotto (Euro Millions), Pin the Donkey on Tail (in this case the country), Scrabble, Darts (each number represents a country and only has 6 darts per week), Snap and Charades, ”the ad states.

“He will also be responsible for ensuring that the Dáil Bar is sufficiently stocked with Guinness (Beamish) nuts and is kept clean and tidy,” the job posting says.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to join an organization where you will be assigned responsibility from day one and your actions will have a great influence on our citizens’ travels and the overall economy. No previous experience is required and preference will be given to applicants who have attention to detail and are very good at analyzing data, this is something that we lack in the team at this time, ”adds the mocking announcement.

Last week, the government announced that it will sign up for the European traffic light system for travel starting next month. Your updated Green List went into effect today. Airline passenger traffic has decreased by more than 90% at Irish airports since the start of the pandemic.
