Ryan Tubridy has said that he maintains a Late Late Show Warm chair for Dalkey’s most famous newcomer, Matt Damon, in case the actor decides he wants to be a guest on RTÉ One.

Damon lives in Dalkey after he flew to shoot the new Ridley Scott movie The last duel. Filming was subsequently stopped due to the Covid-19 emergency, with Damon and his family isolating themselves in the Co Dublin suburb.

Tubridy made his comments on his RTÉ Radio 1 program after hearing that the New York Times He had contacted Dalkey residents online to find out if they had any news on the Hollywood star, only to have locals politely reject the investigation with amusing responses.

“You will always be welcome”

A listener wondered if Damon would appear on the Late Late Show before leaving Ireland.

“I hardly think so,” replied the host. “I think he probably has better things to do. But, you know, we’ll keep a hot chair for him in case he wants to show up. He’s always welcome.”
