RTE host Ryan Tubridy says he is “confused” and “fed up” by the government’s messages about pending Dublin restrictions.
The Late Late Show host opened his RTE Radio One program by addressing the impending restrictions that he said even he is not clear about.
The star described reports that pubs and restaurants will close as “quirky” given the safe environment they have created.
He opened his show by saying, “I’m a bit confused myself. I thought pubs and restaurants weren’t really a problem when it came to spreading the virus and that it was actually the people in their homes who were doing the damage.”
“And now it looks like they are, well we don’t know yet because they haven’t agreed, but it does suggest they’ll keep dropping these really heavy clues all week over Dublin on a razor’s edge, Dublin could close.
“I’m not sure, it seems that restaurants are going to close maybe, restaurants in Dublin.
“Is that going to drive more people to other people’s houses? It seems very peculiar to me.
“Nobody has clarified it to me, maybe they will do it tonight on The Late Late Show because we are going to see it in a very … you know, I’m very sick of the incoherent messages.
“So we’re going to try to fix that at the beginning of the show tonight. If not for you, but for me on a selfish level.
“And we will do what we have done as a nation, which is the right thing, and we will try to hold out.”
The Late Late Show returns again at 9:35 pm tonight if you want to tune in and see what Ryan is talking about.
As for the restrictions, the Cabinet will meet this morning and then reveal what is happening in Dublin.
