Rosanna Davison has admitted that she is “a little heartbroken” about not being able to celebrate her daughter Sophia’s first birthday.
The former Miss World announced that she had given birth to identical twins with a snap from her hospital bed on Wednesday, which showed her holding the babies.
Rosanna and her husband Wes Quirke named the children Hugo and Oscar and will join Sophia in the new family of five.
The model thanked the National Maternity Hospital in the Instagram post and said that “all our dreams have come true.”
She said: “Our beautiful and healthy identical twin babies, Hugo and Oscar, arrived safely into the world this morning and our hearts are filled with love.
“️So, we have become a family of five and all our dreams have come true.
“We are deeply grateful to the wonderful and hardworking team at @nationalmaternityhospital for all their kindness and support.”
However, the model has now admitted that she is sad that she will not be able to be with her daughter Sophia when she turns one year old.
She wrote on Instagram today: “I am a little heartbroken to not be home with Sophia on her first birthday, but we will celebrate and pamper her next weekend … I hope she appreciates the gift of two little brothers.”
It’s been a dizzying year for the model, who announced that she was pregnant with the boys after suffering 14 heartbreaking miscarriages and welcoming her daughter Sophia through a surrogate last November.
Lifting the lid on her shocking news in July, the daughter of Lady in Red singer Chris De Burgh described her surprise pregnancy as “ one of life’s mysteries ” and credited the slower pace of life this year for marking the difference.
She said: “We are absolutely delighted to complete our family and that our daughter Sophia has two brothers so close in age.”
“My doctor cannot offer a medical explanation for why I have been able to maintain this pregnancy and it will probably always remain one of life’s mysteries.
“However, we discovered that she was pregnant after the first month of confinement when she was much more physically relaxed than she had been in years and was enjoying the slow pace of family life at home, despite the anxiety and sadness of the outside world. .
“So maybe that time away from the stress of busy everyday life made a difference.
“We still can’t believe it ourselves and it has taken us a long time to process it correctly and feel ready to share the news.
“As if 2020 wasn’t full of enough surprises.”
