Amateur jockey Rob James has been suspended for 12 months, with the last eight months suspended, after images surfaced on social media of him sitting on a dead horse.
An IHRB (Irish Horse Racing Regulatory Board) referral hearing was held on Wednesday evening, after they concluded their investigation into the incident.

James apologized for his “totally inappropriate and disrespectful” actions and said he was “heartbroken at the damage” caused by the video, which was taken in 2016.
A tweet on the official IHRB account after the hearing read: “Having considered the evidence, the Referral Committee determined that Mr. James violated Rule 272 (i) because he acted in a manner that was detrimental to the integrity, the good conduct and reputation. ” of horse racing.
“They imposed a 12-month suspension of their Qualified Driver license and Driver’s Permit, with the last eight months suspended.”
James also informed the committee that he would not attend a career meeting or point-to-point during the four-month period of his suspension.
After Elliott’s referral hearing on Friday, he received a 12-month ban, with the last six months suspended.
