Republic of Ireland v Finland summary of LIVE score, result and reaction

Stephen Kenny took over his second game as the Republic of Ireland’s top manager on Sunday when his team hosted Finland at Aviva Stadium.

Shane Duffy’s stoppage time header saved a point for the Boys in Green over Bulgaria during the week, but this time it was not repeated.

Finland took the lead shortly after the hour marked by Fredrik Jensen substitution.

Ireland had a couple of equalizing chances, but the visitors could have put up a few more chances to get past Randolph as well.

Kenny made three changes to his starting eleven since Thursday’s game, with Jayson Molumby making his senior debut, while Harry Arter and Robbie Brady also entered the starting side.

David McGoldrick did not start the game, but came in from the bench as did Callum Robinson and James McClean.

The result gives Kenny plenty to think about ahead of next month’s Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Slovakia.

Some of his team’s game bodes well for the future, but there is plenty to work on before the October game.
