The emergency services that assisted yesterday in the recovery of a body from the Old Head of Kinsale have expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Yesterday afternoon a multi-agency recovery of an individual was conducted during difficult weather conditions.
Crews from the Old Head / Seven Heads Coast Guard Unit, Gardaí, the RNLI and the National Ambulance Service, as well as the R117 helicopter, collaborated in the search for the missing person.
Tragically, the person was located deceased using forward-facing infrared (FLIR) cameras.
In a post on social media, Rescue 117 shared images of the difficult flight conditions.
“Charged yesterday to the Old Head of Kinsale together with the Old Head / Seven Heads Coast Guard Unit, NAS, Garda and RNLI for a missing person.
“Located using the FLIR camera.
“Condolences to the friends and family of the victim and may they rest in peace.
“Images with appreciation from the Coast Guard unit showing the difficult location and excellent flying skills of the crew involved in the recovery,” they said.
