Sony has been ahead of the console wars looming this holiday season by confirming that its two PS5 consoles will be available in November along with a host of exciting games.
The flagship PlayStation 5 will be available for £ 449 in the UK from 19 November, and a digital edition without a disc drive will cost £ 359.
Sony provided pricing and release dates during an exhibition Wednesday that featured new surprise games, including Final Fantasy XVI and an open-world RPG set in the Harry Potter universe.
Hogwarts Legacy is an RPG set in the late 19th century and it appears that it will allow players to choose their Hogwarts house and explore the world beyond wizarding school.
Players will have access to spells, potions, and magical creatures, and while the underlying story was not revealed, the narrative suggested that it would be determined by the choices the player makes in-game.
Final Fantasy XVI appears to be set in a medieval-style world with knights riding the classic Chocobo steeds from the series and characters summoning iconic monsters to fight in real time.
Sony’s flagship console will cost exactly the same as Microsoft’s, although the more affordable Xbox Series S is £ 100 cheaper than the PS5 digital edition.
The consoles will hit stores first in the United States, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea on November 12 before releasing the following week in the rest of the world.
Sony put many games in what was planned as a 40 minute showcaseincluding the above, as well as a God of War sequel, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and a new Call of Duty game.
The response to the event was very positive on social media.
