Explaining the meaning behind the family day out, the caption on the Kensington Royal account read: “The Duke and Duchess and their family attended a special National Lottery Pantoland pantomime performance at The Palladium, which took place to thank key workers and their families for their phenomenal efforts this year.

Prior to the performance, The Duke delivered a short speech to thank those across the country for the sacrifices they have made to keep the country running and to support their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“During the interval, the Duke and Duchess also met with a small number of key working families to hear more about their experiences over the past year, before appearing backstage to thank the cast and crew.”

One follower gushed, “Oh my, the kids are getting so big now!”

“They’ve gotten so big,” added a second.

“I can’t believe how big the kids have grown, they are so cute,” wrote a third.

During Prince William’s speech at the theater, he also took the opportunity to pay a heartfelt tribute to EastEnders icon Dame Barbara Windsor, who sadly passed away Thursday night.

“I want to pause and pay tribute to a true national treasure, Dame Barbara Windsor, who passed away so sadly last night … I know we will all miss her greatly,” he said.

It has been a very busy time for the Duke and Duchess. In addition to their assistance to the panto, William and Kate recently traveled around the UK to thank key frontline workers for all their help and time during the Covid-19 pandemic.
